Georgia  is suing to have a court declare that pot's main intoxicating ingredient is illegal. The chemical, delta-8 THC, is mostly made from CBD, a non-intoxicating compound found in hemp. Delta-8 is a very popular drug in the United States, and both the cannabis industry and state governments have struggled to deal with it. A law firm in Atlanta filed a lawsuit following threats by the Gwinnett County district attorney to prosecute businesses that sell products containing delta-8 or a similar chemical, delta-10. According to the suit, a Friday's email to the district attorney's office was not returned immediately. The district attorney misunderstood hemp and hemp products under state law, according to the suit.
